About Us

The Horner Library Staff Exchange Project is an exchange of library staff between Fujian Province, China, and Oregon, for the purpose of sharing professional knowledge about library and information science. It was established through a generous gift from the late Dr. Layton Horner to the Oregon State Library, and continues through a partnership between the Oregon State Library and Oregon Library Association’s International Relations Round Table. Our international partners are the Fujian Provincial Library and the Fujian Library Association. Fujian is Oregon’s sister province in China and the Fujian Provincial Library maintains a sister library relationship with the Oregon State Library.

The 2013 Oregon delegation is Angela, Pat, and Lori.

Angela Lee, a retired catalog librarian from Washington County Coop. Library Services, serves as the interpreter for 2013 Horner Exchange.  She is eager to learn everything about Fujian libraries and share after the trip.

Pat French worked as the Director of Collections and Technical Services at Multnomah County Library (MCL) from 2006 to 2012.  She worked as Head of Serials Acquisitions and Cataloging at UC Davis from 1996-2006 and at the California State Library prior to that.  She retired from MCL in 2012 but remains active in the OLA International Relations Round Table.

Lori Wamsley is currently a faculty member at Portland Community College, teaching in the Education department and Library Assistant program.  She previously worked as a reference/instruction librarian at an academic library.
